Beastly Movie Review
Upcoming movie Beastly is absolutely nothing to write home about. It stars Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Hudgens and Mary-Kate Olsen and it appears like everything in this new movie release that could go wrong, went incorrect. To start with, the makers of Beastly are still trying to chase the teen fantasy genre that departed with Twilight. And it seems like theyre clueless in looking for the right concepts or even moods in this new movie to get across the teen drama theyre desperately trying to express.
Box office is going to become awful. Its truly unusual for a movie picture this poor to be released from Hollywood. The characters are rote, theres no subtlety and also the story is predictable.
Daniel Barnes, writer/director, would like to sell Beastly, adapted from a novel by Alex Flinn, as a modern day Beauty and also the Beast story. Hes flattering himself. In this story, a popular but shallow senior named Kyle (Pettyfer), whos at a prep school in Manhattan, gets changed into the beast by a fellow student, a witch named Kendra, who is played by Mary-Kate Olsen.
The deal is that he has one year to locate a girl who will profess her love for him, ugly as he is, or he will usually be a beast. The initial thing he does is go hide in the fancy condo his father, played by Peter Krause, provides for him. Krause plays a broadcaster who’s entirely full of himself and doesnt like the unattractive any far more than his son does consequently sweeping his son under the rug.
The intriguing factor is the fact that Kyle never ever truly becomes a beast. He has plenty of cool tattoos and loads of razor cuts on his physique and bald head. It makes him appear far more like a rapper than a beast.
And Kendra looks fairly darned excellent for a witch, even though Kyle calld her Frankenshank.
Right just before Kyle becomes the beast, he befriends a cute student named Lindy, played by Vanessa Hudgens of High School Musical. Viewers will know appropriate away who is going to save Kyle, despite the fact that she shows some really terrible taste in guys.
The 1 of the years new movies works challenging to get the beast and his savior together telling a ridiculous story of how Lindys father, a junkie, kills a dealer, and then worrying about Lindy, decides to hide her in Kyles condo. Then Kyle is joined by his tutor, played by Neil Patrick Harris, and a maid from Jamaica, played by LisaGay Hamilton, who must constantly tell Kyle the way to appeal to a girl with something besides very good looks.
The characters are lifeless and their circumstances are entirely unbelievable. Theres not even a feeling for magic, upon which the whole story is based. And to top it off, the movie was filmed in Montreal and Quebec, but supposedly takes location in Manhattan, and none of the scenes mesh.
